01When this notice applies

This privacy notice takes effect on October 2, 2026. It covers every page on austinroofingcompany.de, the estimate form, the support chat and the cookie banner. It does not cover what happens on the roof itself; a signed roofing contract carries its own terms, set out in our terms of use.

If we change it, the date at the top changes with it. Section 19 explains how you hear about that.

02Who is responsible for your data

The site is operated by Austinroofingcompany, trading at austinroofingcompany.de. We are the roofing contractor the site describes: roof repair, tear-off replacement, storm and hail inspection, standing-seam metal and emergency dry-in across Austin and out to Lakeway.

Postal address: 12430 Metric Blvd, Austin, Texas 78758, United States. Email: [email protected]. Phone: 512-952-7454.

Under the GDPR we are the controller. Under California law we are the business that collects your personal information. Either way it is the same office, and the same people who answer the phone.

03What we collect, and from where

The estimate form sends us eight things you type or tick: your name, phone number, email, the street address of the roof, the kind of job (repair, replacement, storm damage, metal, emergency), your message, any specification you ask for, and the consent tick. We need the address because we look at the roof from satellite imagery and the street before we drive out.

With every form, the server writes down five more things on its own: your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, the page that referred you, the moment the form was drawn on your screen and the moment you pressed send. The two timestamps exist to stop bots. A form filled in under three seconds is not a homeowner.

The support chat keeps the conversation: what you write, what we answer, and the name and optional phone or email you give when you start it. A token is stored in your browser so you can come back to the same thread after you close the tab.

Your cookie choice is stored in your browser under the key site_consent_v2. Nothing else on this site stores a choice.

If you arrive from an ad, the link carries a click identifier: gclid from Google, msclkid from Microsoft, fbclid from Meta. After you allow advertising storage, the platforms' tags set their own cookies, listed one by one on the cookies page.

There is no account, no password, no payment and no card data. Nothing is sold on this site and no payment is taken here.

04What each piece is used for

  • Form and chat details are used to call you back, book the inspection, send the photo set and the itemised estimate, and keep a record of what we told you about your roof.
  • IP address, user-agent and timestamps are used to filter spam and abuse, and to trace a fault when a form fails to arrive.
  • The referring URL and click identifiers tell us which ad or search brought you in, so we stop paying for the ones that bring nobody with a roof in Austin.
  • Advertising cookies, once allowed, let Google, Microsoft and Meta count a sent form as a conversion and show our ads to people more likely to need a roofer.
  • Server logs keep the site running and show us attacks.

We do not sell your details to lead brokers, other roofers or insurance adjusters. We do not build a profile of you beyond the job.

06Advertising that sends you here

We pay for clicks. Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising run search ads to this site today, and Meta Ads sends traffic here when a campaign runs there. Each platform adds its own click identifier to the link you tap:

  • Google Ads adds gclid.
  • Microsoft Advertising adds msclkid.
  • Meta Ads adds fbclid.

The identifier is a random string. On its own it does not tell us your name. If you allow advertising storage, the platform's tag keeps it in a cookie so that, if you later send the form, the platform can match the conversion to the ad. If you decline, the identifier stays in the address bar of that one visit and goes nowhere.

No platform has reviewed this notice or vouched for this site. They are suppliers we buy clicks from.

08Who else receives your data

  • Google Ireland Ltd and Google LLC, for Google Ads. Receives the gclid, the consent signals and, if you allowed it, the conversion event.
  • Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd, for Microsoft Advertising. Receives the msclkid and conversion events. Microsoft's own handling is set out in the Microsoft privacy statement at privacy.microsoft.com.
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd, for Meta Ads, where a campaign runs there. Receives the fbclid and conversion events.
  • Our hosting provider, which serves the site and stores the enquiry database and chat transcripts on its servers.
  • Our mail provider, which carries the notification of a new enquiry to our inbox.

The hosting and mail providers act on our instructions only. If your claim goes to your insurer, we send them the photo set and estimate only when you ask us to.

09Data leaving the country

We are in Texas, so a visitor writing from Europe sends their details to the United States. That transfer is lawful because it is needed for the steps you asked us to take (GDPR Art. 49(1)(b)), and because you consented when you ticked the box.

Google, Microsoft and Meta move data between their own US and Irish entities under their own transfer mechanisms: Standard Contractual Clauses and, where they are certified, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

10How long each record is kept

Enquiries and the email copies of them are kept for 24 months. Long enough to answer when you ring back next spring about the other slope; not so long that we are sitting on years of addresses.

Chat transcripts: 12 months. Server and access logs: 60 days. The record of your cookie choice: 12 months, after which the banner asks again.

If you sign a contract, the job file falls under that contract and the records Texas law requires a contractor to keep, which is a separate matter from this website.

11How the data is protected

Every page and every form travels over HTTPS. The enquiry store sits behind a login that only our office uses, and it is not reachable from any public page. The form uses hidden honeypot fields and a render timestamp to turn away scripts, so the inbox is not full of junk that could hide a real leak call.

We hold no card numbers and no passwords, which removes the data thieves want most. No system is unbreakable. If a breach touches your details, we tell you and the authority the law names, without dragging it out.

12Your rights under the GDPR

If you reach us from the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you these rights over what we hold:

  • Access: a copy of everything we keep about you.
  • Rectification: wrong phone number, wrong address, fixed.
  • Erasure: deletion, unless a signed contract obliges us to keep the job file.
  • Restriction: we keep it but stop using it while a dispute is settled.
  • Portability: your form and chat data in a plain machine-readable file.
  • Objection: to any use based on legitimate interest, including spam filtering logs.
  • Withdrawing consent: at any time, through Cookie settings or by email, without affecting what was lawful before.

13Your rights under US state law

Residents of California have rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA: to know what personal information we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, to limit use of sensitive information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Texas, Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Oregon and the other states with privacy laws in force give similar rights to their residents, and we apply them to anyone who asks.

We do not sell personal information for money. Letting an ad platform match a conversion through its cookies can count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. You opt out of that by pressing Decline on the banner, by sending a Global Privacy Control signal, or by emailing us. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

14Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal (the Sec-GPC header), we treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing and as a decline of advertising storage. We do not ask you again through the banner. The four Consent Mode signals stay denied for that visit.

15Children

This site is for homeowners and property managers arranging work on a roof. It is not meant for children and we do not knowingly take data from anyone under 16. If a child has sent us a form, tell us and we delete it.

16Complaining to an authority

Write to us first; most things get fixed in one reply. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Attorney General of your state. In Texas that is the Office of the Texas Attorney General. In California you can also go to the California Privacy Protection Agency.

Visitors protected by the GDPR can complain to the data protection authority of the country where they live or work.

17Making a data request

Email [email protected] with "Data request" in the subject, or write to Austinroofingcompany, 12430 Metric Blvd, Austin, Texas 78758, United States. Say what you want: a copy, a correction, a deletion, or an end to sharing.

Give us the phone number or email you used on the form. We match the request against that before we release anything, because the last thing you want is a stranger getting your home address. An authorised agent can act for you with your signed permission.

You get an answer within 10 days. No fee.

18Accessibility of this site

We build this site to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA. Every page works with a keyboard: a skip link sits first in the tab order, the menu opens with Enter or Space, and focus is marked with a heavy red outline. Text on the red signal colour is set in off-white and checked for contrast. Every photograph carries a written description. Motion respects the reduced-motion setting of your device; the roof diagram on the home page appears fully drawn when it is on.

Some things are not perfect. The roof-layer diagram is described in the list beside it rather than read point by point by a screen reader. If anything blocks you, from a form field to a contrast problem, call 512-952-7454 or email [email protected]. We will take the estimate request by phone and fix the page.

19When this notice changes

A change is published on this page with a new effective date and version number in the header. If it alters what we collect or who receives it, the cookie banner asks for your choice again on your next visit, and anyone with an open enquiry hears about it by email. We do not apply a change backwards to data collected under the old wording without asking.

20Talking to a person about this

Privacy questions go to the same office as roof questions. Email [email protected], call 512-952-7454, or write to 12430 Metric Blvd, Austin, Texas 78758. A person reads every message.

Need the roof looked at instead? The estimate form is one click away, and the roofing services page shows how each job is priced.
